Of Interest: A Survey about Gendered Terms

Jo Mackiewicz at Iowa State University and Jordan Smith at University of Northern Colorado are studying editors’ perceptions of male and female to describe connector ends.

About a year ago, they ran a similar survey in which they sought the input of technical editors. This time, they’d like to broaden the pool of opinions. If you work as an editor on any type of writing, they would love for you participate.

The anonymous survey takes about 10 minutes. If you’ve got time, they’d also like to interview you about these usage items, but the interview isn’t required to participate.
