Hey, Students!
Want to know more about technical editing?
Of course you do.
One of the goals of the STC TESIG is to help technical communication students get more involved in the field of technical editing. We want to hear some new, fresh voices, especially from those who are studying the subject or just starting out. It’s important to us to discuss the needs, dreams, and issues of the next generation of technical editing practitioners.
With this goal in mind, we are excited to announce the TESIG Monthly Student Chat series!
These 45-minute virtual chats will be held over Zoom on the first Sunday of every month at 6 pm ET/5 pm CT, and are a forum for STC student members (and not-yet members!) to discuss editing challenges, as well as share helpful resources, editing tactics and tips, and career advice about finding internships/jobs.
The topics we will be discussing are:
- September: Intro to Technical Editing: A Primer
- October: Jobs and Internships in Technical Editing
- November: Editing across Language Fluencies
- December: Editing Graphics
- January: Communicating with Authors and SMEs
(Due to winter break, this will be held on the last Sunday of the month.) - February: Technical Editing with AI
- March: Editing for Accessibility
- April: How to Freelance as a Technical Editor
